FitBit’s Answer to the Apple Watch: The Blaze

I found an interesting story about how FitBit is working hard to reclaim their role as the wearable technology leader. Apple is hot on it’s tail, but with the new Blaze, a fitness watch with some Apple Watch-like traits, FitBit may be able to get back on top. Unlike FitBit’s other watches, The Blaze has a color touch screen, fashionable swappable band, and a slim design. Like a smartphone, you can answer or decline calls, check your calendar, and play music. Although these features may seem great, the watch’s main function is fitness. This means that you can’t download social media or pay for your latte, but the watch does track your heart rate, steps and activity. FitBit outsold the Apple Watch at the end of 2015, but only by less than one million watches. This may be because The Blaze has a feature that the Apple Watch definitely doesn’t: it has 5 days of battery life. It also has a screen that can pop out of the metal in order for the owners to switch between stainless steel and gold shells. It is not as pretty to look at as the Apple Watch, with it’s odd octagonal shape, but if you’re looking for a good fitness tracker, The Blaze is the right way to go.
