CleverPet

A new interactive game has come out in the new year, but what’s so special? It’s for your playful canine friend. This is called CleverPet. Clever Pet distributes one treat every time your dog presses one of the circular buttons on its surface. Once they have accomplished that, CleverPet turns into a Simon-like game. They will have to touch certain buttons in an order and if they were correct, it will give another treat. CleverPet is currently priced at $180,000. Another way this is amazing is because it keeps your furry friend engrossed for  hours. The people who made it all happen is Leo Trotter, the  founder, and Dan Knudsen, the co-founder. Some questions people are asking is whether or not CleverPet works for you feline friends. This has not been determined but that may be the next chapter.

200 year old boat found

When people were looking for Malaysia Airliners Flight 370 that disappeared in March 2014 they instead found a wreckage of a boat from about 200 years ago. They said that the wreckage was a boat made out of steel from the early 19th century.

Computer Brain

This is an article about computers that allow cars to drive by themselves. Workers in a company called NVIDIA built a high powered computer they named Drive PX2, which allows cars to drive by themselves. According to the article, it is about the size of a lunchbox, and about as powerful as 150 MacBook Pro computers. Volvo announced they are going to test the computers in self driving cars next year. NVIDIA says, “the super-smart computer will let cars use deep learning, meaning they learn from their experiences and get smarter. This will let the autonomous cars of the future be better prepared to anticipate and avoid threats that could lead to accidents.”

I chose this story because I like cars. I think it’s interesting because I would like to just relax while the cars is driving itself.

50 foot killer

Many animals were horrifying 60 million years ago but this giant snake was the king. Just after the dinosaurs went extinct these were some of the first animals to mutate into shapes like animals today. It is about 50-60 feet long and weighed 2,500 pounds. It acted like a normal snake today but they killed their prey via constriction. It was called the “Titanoboa” the biggest baddest predator on the earth.

Can This company power the earth for 65,000,000 years?

A group of brilliant people are planning on powering the world for about 65,000,000 years. Their company is called general fusion. These people are trying to do what other scientists failed at for hundreds of years, the technology used to be known as lightning in a bottle. This technological wonder heats plasma, already at millions of degrees, to much higher temperatures. This technology’s source for fuel is limitless and causes almost no pollution. This company works on two different types of fusion, laser fusion, and tokamak fusion. tokamak fusion traps plasma in a magnetic and and tries to not let it escape. With laser fusion you put fuel in a little pellet and shoot lasers all around it, there is no magnetic field in laser fusion, but it compresses the pellet fast enough so that the heat doesn’t escape so it just gets hotter. General fusion is planning on doing both methods. This way the magnetic field keeps the heat inside, so they don’t have to compress the pellet very fast so the heat doesn’t escape, if they don’t do both they have to squash the pellet in one billionths of a second, but since they’re doing it with both methods they only have to squash it in one thousandths of a second.

General fusion is has a special structure that they are using for the experiment. There is a vortex sphere that has 2 plasma injectors on either side of it. The plasma injectors spin up liquid metal, and then inject plasma into the vortex. The vortex will be surrounded by thousands of pistons, making a compression wave which will squash the plasma. The Plasma then gets denser and hotter, until it is to enough to do fusion. The fusion energy emits neutrons, so they fly out and be absorbed by the metal, and that will emit heat so the metal will be hotter, and generate steam. The steam will run a turbine and make electricity, and some of the steam will come and run the pistons. That is how the machine will generate energy from just liquid metal, pistons and a lot of machinery.

Flying Car Hasn't Panned Out

I think that a flying car would be awesome but it is dangerous and the problem isn't just that it is to wide for roads it has more problems like safety issues like fuel, other planes, and maybe even bad use. I would love to have a flying car in this generation but the world just isn't ready for this kind of huge change.
